Jane qualified as a teacher in 2004 and has taught pupils from a wide range of ages, abilities, backgrounds and nationalities. She began her career working in primary schools and then moved onto working with young people with special needs. Since 2007, she has also worked as a 1-1 maths tutor and now tutors online.
Due to the many years of experience Jane has, she has successfully taught pupils for Key Stages 2, 3 and GCSE exams whilst having also worked with adult learners. Each summer, Jane also marks exam papers for the Cambridge International GCSE exam board, and this gives her excellent knowledge of the mark schemes and requirements to achieve good grades.
Jane has a comprehensive understanding of how to progress in maths, common misconceptions about the subject and what is needed to achieve great results in exams.
‘By building positive relationships and targeting individual needs, the pupils that I work with gain confidence and motivation. Their experiences of maths in school and the real world often means they have negative feelings towards the subject. My enthusiasm for the subject is clear, and I adapt lessons to each individual pupil to ensure their improvement and enjoyment of maths.’
