Stephen qualified as a teacher in 2009, with a specialism in French. He recently moved to Devon to be closer to his family and is currently teaching in a primary school.
Although secondary trained, Stephen taught for many years in London prep-schools, preparing pupils for 13+ exams as well as administering French speaking exams. He also has experience of rewriting schemes of work for schools and creating many new types of resources which are still used in his former schools today.
Having worked with the whole range of language learners, from native speakers who need to learn to read and write their language to a professional standard, to those learning a second language completely from scratch, he has helped build the confidence of many French pupils over the years.
Stephen is also currently responsible for redesigning the French curriculum across the senior schools in the trust and is also employed by SWIFT Teacher Training as a Primary Facilitator. As a result of this additional role, he is inspiring non-French specialists to effectively teach French in primary schools.
'When teaching French, I focus on the practical uses for the language and keep all my lessons and activities relevant to real-life situations. I aim to break barriers of no-confidence and share my personal learning experience to prove that fluency can be achieved. Through a mixture of traditional and modern methods, my students will improve in all areas from understanding to pronunciation'
